Iguazu Falls - Los Cataratas

I have yet to come up with a good explanating for this eccentric little creature, though Im sure that her protective patterning wards off beasts wary of the "8 gang"...almost looks like the little bugger has some sort of tattoo, one of which may have been applied after a few too many drinks out on the town.
There are over 100 viewpoints from which the falls can be observed from innumerable angles. This one in particular captures the enigmatic shape of the falls, falling in tiered cascades down the side of a cliff face that might double as a staircase for the gods.
Ready to be bathed in the waters of Iguazu, I strike a pose before I enter the fray and spray. Massive 1000 HP engines send you careening through spray so strong the falls become invisible to all but a tingling sense as we are baptised by the waters.
If you pay close attention you will notice the grey darters, that provide stark contrast to the virtual void created by the monumental mist produced by the falling water. Hundreds upon hundreds of darters swoop, dive and rise upon thermal energy to glorious heights that can only make the terrestrial mammal burn with jealousy. I can only understand their behavior as playful and joyful...who says birds have no sense of leisure or excitement?
The power of Iguazu Falls on the border between Argentina and Brazil is breathtaking, a numbing experience which assaults the senses and challenges our ability to comprehend the power of nature. Here you see, to the best of the ability of my camera to capture its velocity, the largest single fall of the over 1000 in the park...Gargante del Diable.
